Linda Nelson knows our Service Values. Not only does this NSC employee – a former Education team member who’s now part of Government Relations – live them every day, but as a KinderCare parent of two boys, she sees our Service Values in action in her own center. Earlier this summer she witnessed a moment that left her in tears (of happiness!). We’ll let her tell the story.
It was graduation day for the transitional kindergartners. Their beloved teacher, Ms. Kim Jennings, gave them a wonderful send off to summer and to kindergarten in the fall. Unbeknownst to anyone at the center until that afternoon, Mr. Kirk [the center’s Facilities technician] had a special surprise for the children as well. He spoke briefly about the special bond he feels with the children and teachers at his home center. Then he turned his focus to the children and presented them each with a flashlight to help light their paths.
This moved me to tears. Kirk brought our Service Values to life in so many ways that afternoon.
“We were so surprised and impressed to have Kirk join our celebration!” said Center Director Robyn Mills. “Kirk has become a familiar face at our center and the children are always excited to see him. He always takes a moment to say hello and interacts with the students in such a positive, gentle manner. [Graduation] was a great example of Kirk’s dedication to the center, and most importantly, our children.”
