Families and staff show their KinderCare pride at Houston Dynamo game

Last weekend, nearly 800 families and employees from Houston-area KinderCare centers cheered on their home team, the Houston Dynamo as they took on the Portland Timbers. Our KinderCare family let their spirit shine through at the game – they got to hold the Dynamo banner when players entered the field, hold the American flag during the National Anthem, and high-fived Dynamo players as they made their way onto the field!

“It was so neat to see everyone there, and to look up in the stands and see everyone with their red KinderCare shirts on,” said District Leader Rachel Dandeneau. “The turnout was amazing and we had a great time!”

Nearly 125 KinderCare employees and families kicked off Saturday’s game while marching the Dynamo flag across the field. Center Directors held up a massive KinderCare banner.

“The highlight of the event for me was the behind-the-scenes activities that our staff and families participated in,” said Shellene Garza, Center Director at South Shore KinderCare in League City, Texas. “We had a once in a lifetime experience to be part of a major-league soccer event that was broadcast on national television. It was a great opportunity to show the KinderCare brand to a wider audience.”

KinderCare had the opportunity to participate in Saturday’s game thanks to a summer camp partnership. For the first year, the Houston Dynamo hosted a summer camp event where they invited local child care and early learning centers to visit the field, meet the players, and learn some soccer skills. KinderCare was the largest participant in the camp – and is working with the team to have their own camp day next summer.

Families had a blast at the game, and had positive feedback for Rachel and her team.

“My families absolutely loved the event,” said Shellene. “One of our preschoolers, Cameron, was chosen to watch the pregame warm up – he was so excited because he’d just come from his morning soccer game. The children were thrilled to be in the stadium cheering on their team!”

The game ended in a 2-2 tie. Click here to watch highlights of the game (and see three full sections of KinderCare kids, families, and staff behind the Dynamo goal)!
