The NSC celebrates Take Your Child to Work Day

Kids wrote notes of gratitude to their favorite teaches.

Last Thursday, nearly 40 children spent the day at the NSC learning about KinderCare Education, participating in educational workshops, and had fun making new friends. KCE’s annual Take Your Child to Work Day featured a cooking workshop with KCE Dietician Courtney Hines, Mad Science with Molly Molecule, Improv with Comedy Sportz, and puppet making with Grants Manager Sarah Holloway.

“My daughter Symone had a blast and has been waiting for a long time to experience Take Your Child to Work Day,” said Jerry Myers, Talent Acquisition Partner. “She loved making a puppet…of course it was a Jedi puppet. Star Wars is her favorite movie – she got that from her dad!”

Throughout the day, children learned what it’s like to work at KCE through a scavenger hunt worksheet. Groups heard from Facilities, HR, Education and more to learn about their parents’ roles. A special workshop added this year gave children an opportunity to write notes of gratitude to teachers, including past or present KinderCare teachers, to be delivered during Teacher Appreciation Week.

groups, facilitating workshops, or helping with registration and check-out, our NSC volunteers helped kids have a great time.

“It’s wonderful to see parents with their children in the office, sharing a day that’s so reflective of who we are as an organization,” said Rebecca Alimena, director of HR. “What also makes it special is the way our volunteers came together to create a warm and welcoming experience for the children.”

“I’ve experienced other Take Your Child to Work Days at other companies, and I have to say this was one of the most well organized events I’ve experienced,” said Jerry. “I was very excited to bring Symone to work with me. I would definitely encourage other parents to participate next year – it will have a lasting impression on their child.”
