When leaders at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Washington, D.C. went looking for a new operator for their employee child care center, KinderCare Education fit the bill.
IDB is the largest provider of development financing for Latin America and the Caribbean, approving more than $11 billion in funds for clients in 26 member countries. IDB provides loans, technical assistance, and policy guidance – all with the goal of reducing poverty and supporting sustainable development. Although headquartered in Washington, D.C., IDB has four official languages: Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese. Many IDB families and center teachers speak Spanish as their first language. In fact, the bilingual portions of KCE’s curriculum, as well as our company’s commitment to supporting the individual needs of each child, were central parts of IDB’s decision to choose KCE to run their center.
Work/life balance is important to IDB. In addition to their onsite child care center, which they’ve had for nearly a decade, the bank also offers employees back-up care and the opportunity to work a flexible work schedule.
BIDKids currently serves about 70 IDB employee children from infancy through prekindergarten and will soon start its journey to national accreditation.
BIDKids joins other D.C. KCE at Work centers such as World Bank and 2200 Penn.
Welcome to the family BIDKids!
