Sarah Holloway, Grants Manager

Share a bit about your professional background:
I’ve been writing grants and fundraising on behalf of arts and culture organizations, social service agencies, healthcare systems and individual artists in Portland for over 20 years. I’m also a puppeteer who is passionate about using puppets and multicultural storytelling to educate kiddos from all walks of life.

What excites you most about working at KCE?
I took a temporary position at KinderCare (then Knowledge Universe) seven years ago as a curriculum developer and I’m so thrilled to be back as a full-time employee! Returning to KinderCare is like returning to my “roots” as an enthusiastic advocate for early childhood education and development. This position also affords me the opportunity to support our goal of making quality childcare and learning opportunities available to under-served and at-risk children.

Tell us a unique fact about yourself:
My Ph. D. is in Mythological Studies and Archetypal Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.

What’s your favorite children’s book?
The entire Beverly Cleary series, because I’m a Portland born-and-raised!

Langston Kriel, Accounts Payable Specialist

Share a bit about your professional background:
I’ve remodeled kitchens and bathrooms, torn off roofs, patched flat tires, sold kayaks, scooped ice cream, rented cares to weary travelers and taught tourists how to stand up paddle board.

What excites you most about working at KCE?
I’m excited about the opportunities for growth and development.

Tell us a unique fact about yourself:
At dawn on my 31st birthday, I was on top of Mount Whitney, the highest point in the Lower 48. I’ve also caught a 46 pound halibut from my kayak.

What’s your favorite children’s book?
Quiet as a Cricket.

Share a bit about your professional background:
From 2013-2015 I worked in AP/AR automation. From there I went to work for a startup company in medical prosthetics where I filled a variety of roles including Customer Service Lead, Shipping and Receiving, and Shop Coordinator.

What excites you most about working at KCE?
I’m excited to be part of a company that’s working toward a brighter future by striving to enrich the lives of today’s youth that so highly values its employees and their families.

Tell us a unique fact about yourself:
When I was 10 years old I piloted three airplanes. I was able to fly one of them from Independence, Ore., over the Pacific Ocean to look for whales.

What’s your favorite children’s book?
My Father’s Dragon.

Share a bit about your professional background:
I graduated from Arizona State University (go Devils!) with a BS in Sociology and have worked in education, case management/advocacy work and standards administration. I worked in the Arizona construction industry for the last three years in a franchise standards capacity.

What excites you most about working at KCE?
All the growth within this organization is very exciting to me. People seem to enjoy working with this organization and I am so excited to begin my journey with KCE and educate others while also learning from those around me in the process!

I am a proud fourth generation Arizonian.

Where the Red Fern Grows.
