In the spirit of the season, NSC employees adopted Portland families to provide them with everything they need to have a happy holiday. Each floor of the office was responsible for an adopted family, chosen by local non-profit Metropolitan Family Service (MFS).
MFS is an organization that helps families in the Portland community overcome the limitations of poverty, inequity and social isolation through programs for children, adults and the elderly.
“We’re proud to partner with MFS this year to have a meaningful impact on our community during the holiday season,” said Lindsey Klinger, Community Partnerships Manager. “Together, we’ve helped make the holidays special for these deserving families.”
Adopted families ranged in their walks of life. Some single parents needed clothes to keep their kids warm this winter, others needed shoes or bedding to make their day-to-day life more comfortable. No matter the need, NSC employees came together to provide for these families.
“I’m amazed and moved by my co-workers’ generosity to help families in our community and make their holidays special,” said Tommy Fujii, Benefits Analyst. “I’m very happy to work with such caring and amazing people!”
“It warms my heart to help others,” said Carol Hoecker, Lease Coordinator. “I love working for KinderCare Education because we care so much about our community. It makes me feel a sense of accomplishment.”
On Friday, December 16, each floor hosted a wrapping party to prepare gifts for delivery to families. By the end of the day, NSC employees wrapped six car loads of more than 150 presents, just in time for the holidays.
