In March 2016, Padraic McConville joined the KinderCare Education family as Executive Vice President, Corporate Development. He’s come a long way from cooking pizzas in his neighborhood pizza shop. Get to know Padraic a little more below!
Why did you join KinderCare Education?I joined KinderCare for two reasons. First – I very much believe in the strategy and direction that Tom and the team have put in place. They strongly believe that by investing in the right things – Education and People – that we will realize the best results for our employees, children, families, and stakeholders. Second – I know that our corporate client business will be recognized as a leader in the industry and I’m excited to help serve the strategy that will get us there.
What excites you most about your role?
I get to wake up every day with the mission and goal of serving children and families in the most positive way! I also love the people in this organization and the opportunity to serve the building of a culture that is so people oriented and mission driven.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I love exploring the Pacific Northwest with my fiancé, Keriann. We’re pretty in to the typical Portland staples – nature, food, and drink. We’re also both from large families and we spend a lot of time on the road visiting siblings and nieces and nephews.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I’m truly most proud of having the opportunity to be at this company to serve our families, children, and employees. I know that with our focus on education and people that we’re changing the standard in this industry – this is something we should all be enormously proud of.
What was your first job? What did you want to be when you grew up?
I cooked pizza in our neighborhood pizza shop all throughout my high school years! When I was really little I was convinced I would become a professional hockey player – we built an ice rink in our backyard every winter and I have countless memories of skating circles in zero degree temperatures. I come from a big family of educators and that was always on the radar. My twin sister actually teaches elementary special education and she’s convinced the Twin Cosmos ultimately pulled me here!
