Jo McMurray has staying power. Celebrating 12 years at KinderCare Education this month, McMurray started with the company as a temp and was hired full time as soon as she was eligible. Her first role was as an executive assistant for the Education team and, after a number of changes, she moved to the Talent Acquisition team as a senior coordinator, where she worked with executive hires.
Working with executive hires made for a seamless transition when she moved back into another executive assistant role, serving Wei-Li Chong for two years before landing in her current role, supporting Vice President of Total Rewards Sarah Redgrave and Senior Director of Experience Lindsay Curley.
McMurray says she likes working for KinderCare because of what the company stands for.
“I like that the company is leading the industry in valuing our teachers – I think the tables are finally turning,” she said. “I love that we are really starting to focus on elevating our educators.”
It’s safe to say that McMurray is exactly where she needs to be.
“I support wonderful people,” she said. “I take care of them and make sure they do what they need to do.”
“I have an amazing boss. Sarah understands, she gets it. She lifts you up when you’re down. She’s straightforward. She’s real. It’s amazing to watch her work. Lindsay is a brilliant mind. I have a lot of respect for the work that she does. It’s incredible to be able to work with Lindsay and see the Experience team work on building a project from start to finish.”
“Any little thing I can do to make Sarah or Lindsay’s lives easier – that makes my day,” said Jo. “Even if they don’t know that I’ve done something – it makes me feel good.”
