Between DIY succulent gardens and a s’mores station, there was something at the 2015 KU Company Picnic for everyone. More than 600 employees and their families spent last Saturday at the Portland Children’s Museum to kick back and relax after a long week of Color Warring.

“I loved it all—the yummy food, cute name tags, make your own trail mix, fun terrariums…” said Heather Neuenschwander, accounts payable supervisor, on Yammer. “Most of all, it was great to see all the families having a good time.”

Before the highly-anticipated raffle drawing, CEO Tom Wyatt took to the KU Amphitheater stage to address the Camp KU crowd. This year marked Tom’s fourth picnic with the company, and he declared this year’s to be his favorite thus far.

The Children’s Museum was open exclusively to KU employees and their children, which allowed kids the whole day to learn and explore.

“The venue is so much fun for parents and kids alike, the vendors were amazing and my kids loved the entire picnic experience,” said Angela Genton, Champions customer care representative. “There were so many fun hands-on, take-home crafts this year, and the increase in participation was noticeable. It was my favorite picnic thus far!”
