Tom Wyatt accepted a Governor’s Gold Award on behalf of Knowledge Universe at a dinner presentation last night. The annual event, hosted by past Oregon Governors Ted Kulongoski, Barbara Roberts, and current Governor John Kitzhaber, honors leading businesses that contribute to making Oregon a great place to live, work and play.

“When you look at past Governors’ Gold honorees and those with whom we shared the stage this year, it’s clear that this is a tremendous honor for Knowledge Universe,” said David Roy, senior director of communications and community partnerships. “It was especially powerful to hear Tom both accept the honor on behalf of all KU employees and speak about the connection between what Special Olympics does, and the efforts of our colleagues in the field and at the NSC, to accommodate special needs children.”

This summer, KU signed a 10-year lease to remain at their current company headquarters, sending a clear message to business leaders in the state’s largest metro area that the company plans on staying in Oregon for the long term. In addition, KU continues to increase its community footprint with annual events like the March to Beach (delivering school supplies to children at a local school), and educating residents about important issues in ECE.
