During occupations week at Maplewood KinderCare in Minnesota, kids got a special devliery from Mailman Bob. Not only did he come to visit, he explained just what it takes to deliver rain, sleet, or snow.
“He talked with the children about how he processes the mail every morning, taking it from big white bins, sorting it, and then putting it in his truck,” said Center Director Kimberly Baar. “He talked about all the awesome keys he carries around to get into mailboxes all over the city of Maplewood — he has 605 mailboxes he delivers to everyday,”
The children were so inspired by Mailman Bob, many of them listed “Mailman” as what they want to be when they grow up.
“We made thank you letters to Mailman Bob and gave him his own KinderCare mail bag that we put the letters in — all addressed to Mailman Bob,” said Kimberly.
Aside from learning the ins-and-outs of mail carrying with Bob, the Preschool classroom studied what it takes to be a chef; they made menus and whipped up yogurt parfaits as a snack.
