She is a positive role model not only for the children but for the staff in her site and the team that she works with in Libertyville.  Linda sets the expectation with her students that they are continual learners.

Linda strives to improve. She assesses her program and contemplates what could have gone better, what can be changed, and what worked well, and then puts those assessments into action by making improvements week over week, month over month, and year over year.

Linda also looks for ways to plan for long term projects WITH the children as they become the leaders in planning. She takes their suggestions and implements those ideas. Linda’s Mini City project took months to plan, and resulted in an entire afternoon of implementation and full engagement from the children. Another student’s idea was to assist the younger children in getting to know the expectations, routine and building. She made the fifth graders Jr. Counselors for the school year. Each Jr. Counselor received a bright blue Champions t-shirt and Champions name tag. Those students are PROUD to be in Copeland Champions!

According to Area Manager Jill Anderson, “Linda fosters great relationships with everyone in her program and the building. She is well liked and respected as a Site Director by her families and school administrators. Linda has a personal conversation with every parent at pick up time. And if she misses one, she calls them before leaving the site to follow up about the day.”

Linda previously worked for another after school provider for the school. With Champions for the past 1-1/2 years, Linda embraces all Champions stands for. One parent shared that not only does she love Linda, but she has been converted, and completely loves Champions! This sway in opinion couldn’t have happened without Linda’s love for Champions, passion for family communications and support, and the meaningful moments that she creates on a daily basis with her children.

Linda trains, leads and mentors her staff and peers. She loves to share her passion of running a quality program. As Linda has said many times, “this is not a job to me, this is my career. I want to be a Site Director; I love it! I don’t want to do anything else.”

Congratulations, Linda!  Thank you for all that you do every day.
